Using Solar Globe Lights to Light Your Outdoor Area

All too often, people forget to include the outdoor lights in their plans when they are designing their new patio, garden area or deck.

Then, later, they find themselves wondering what kind of lights they can bring into the structure or into the garden that will give off a beautiful glow while still looking natural.

Of course this can cause a problem if you need to run cables to your lights and the are are isn't prepared for this option. So it is always a good idea to plan for your lighting when you are in the planning stages. This is the nice thing about solar lights, you don't need to run any wires.

One popular type of outdoor lighting is solar globe lights, which not only are beautiful, but can come in a variety of different forms.

Basic Globe Lights

Many globe lights come attached to a stake that you simply plant into the ground. Because they are solar powered, they do not require that you hide any kind of wiring, which is perfect for those who were forgetful during the planning stages, or for those people who want to put more lights into their area at a later date.

These basic globe lights usually require that you add backup batteries as you install them. Depending on the model you purchase, it may or may not be acceptable to use rechargeable batteries, so make sure you read the instructions before beginning to install the globes.

Advanced Globe Lights

Unlike other types of lighting, globe lights can come in a variety of colors and shapes. Most people are able to find theme based globes to meet their needs. For instance, fairy statues with globes attached are extremely popular, as are angel statues with globes on them. Make sure, before you buy any décor for your outdoors, that you will have room for it.

Theme globes, though, are not the only option on the market. Other globe lights are colored, bringing a true variety into your garden as well as enhancing it. If, for instance, you place blue globe lights next to flowers that have a blue hue, you will enhance the color of the flowers, even at night.

Floating Globes

Some globes are not only waterproof, but they float as well! These globes are immensely popular for those who have fountains that they want to illuminate. Floating globes also come in a variety of colors and are relatively inexpensive, meaning that you can place several of them in your fountain or pool in order to make things truly stunning.

The Downside

As beautiful and inexpensive as they are, there are, however, downsides to solar globes. The first occurs if you live in an area where the weather is overcast most of the time. The batteries will still be charged by the sun in overcast weather but they light won't last as long if the sun is beating down all day.
