In-Deck lighting disks - from dark to dazzling with these low voltage outdoor yard lights.

These versatile, flush-mounted low voltage outdoor yard lights can be purchased in kits of 10 or you can purchase them individually. These exterior lights can be walked on and even driven over, so they are great for your outdoor deck or areas around the house where there is high-traffic.

The in-deck lighting disks are puck-sized, 3” diameter and they are designed to be flush mounted in a flat bottom hole with a 7/8” center through hole for the wiring base. I recommend you purchase Rockler’s 3” multi-spur bit and 7/8” spade bit to make the installation a breeze.

You need to purchase a low voltage transformer to operate these outdoor deck lights. There are five different transformers available:

- 60 Watt 12 Volt Photocell Transformer

- 88 Watt 12 Volt Photocell Transformer

- 88 Watt 12 Volt Multiple Setting Transformer

- 200 watts 12 Volt Multiple Setting Transformer

- 300 Watt 12 Volt Multiple Setting Transformer

The 12 Volt digital transformer with built-in photocell lets you automatically turn the outdoor lights on at dusk and off at dawn. Additional settings allow lights to automatically turn on and then off in 4, 6 or 8 hours.

The 12 volt multiple setting transformer has a multiple on/off timer and the outdoor lights can be set to go on or off up to two times each day.

The number of in-deck lighting disks you want to run will dictate how big of a transformer you should purchase. Based on the exterior low voltage yard lights being 4 watts you can calculate how big of a transformer you need. Note, power loss can occur due to resistance in the wire. If you are doing a large number of lights or a very long run of wire you should take this into consideration when determining the size of the transformer. For 50 to 100 feet of the loss would not be significant to affect the number of lights you could use. But if you are doing more than 100 feet you should take this into account.

You will also need to purchase the 12 volt outdoor lighting wire. The low voltage outdoor lighting wire is available in lengths of 50 feet. Make sure you measure how much wire you need before placing your order. You don’t want to be short a few feet of wire when you’re ready to install your new deck lights.
